 The first stage in gaining Home Owners Warranty is to become accredited with ABS. The process is simple – just complete the application form, attach your passport-size photo and subscription fee and then submit for processing.
Once you become an Accredited Builder with Australian Building Services (ABS), you apply for Home Owners Warranty on a job by job basis. Upon successfully winning a project, ring the ABS Office and confirm the appropriate premium rate. Then, simply complete the HOW Application Form, attach your financials (on your initial application) the costings for the project, the Financial & QS Check Sheets, together with the insurance premium and forward to ABS for processing.
Upon receipt of your application, we will complete an in-depth check on the information provided. Should there be any anomalies, ABS will call you to discuss the issue. It is important to provide all the information upfront to avoid additional costs associated in assessing your application for a second time due to the lack of information.
You need to allow 14 working days for the issue of the H.O.W Certificates.

CANCELLATION FEES
Should a project be cancelled after the issue of the Home Owners Warranty Certificates, a cancellation fee of $660.00 well be charged per certificate, plus any additional cost incurred as part of the application process (Incl. QS and Financial costs). The process for cancellation is as follows:- - Contact ABS and advise cancellation of project
- Forward the original HOW Certificates along with a covering letter signed by both parties requesting cancellation
NOTE: HOW Certificates cannot be cancelled once a project has commenced as such refunds are no applicable.
